Seattle Over Portland in Klahanie Park Scorcher
Game 3 of the 2008 Seattle V Portland series was played in scorching heat out on Klahanie Park on Saturday - and spectators were well entertained with 4 quarters of very fierce football.
Seattle produced arguably their strongest squad in the series so far, but unfortunately, Portland travelled with several key outs. Despite their missing players, the hot conditions, and a sizable scoreboard deficit, Portland showed plenty of heart and competed well for the full 80 minutes of football.
Seattle gelled extremely well in all areas of the field. Linked handballs and precise kicking moved the ball well through the corridors and made for some great passages of play. Butler was unstoppable up forward, Richo and Morts attacked well out of the back line, and Justin Peel made the midfield his own in his farewell game for 2008.
Given the quality of football produced by the Seattle squad, signs are certainly looking very good for the up coming BC Footy Cup!
Seattle: 22.20-152 Portland: 8.4-52
Goals: Eric Butler 5, Josh Anfinson 3, Matt Muller 2, Adam Cannane 2, Chris Richmond 2, Ed Fayette 2, Justin Peel 2, Ross Tucker 2, Tom Keane 1, Jeff Purcell 1, Tim Hollingsworth 1 (played for Portland)
