Seattle Grizzlies
Australian Football Club

2005 Schedule

The schedule for this season is:

JULY 10 PORTLAND <Sunday>
July 23 @ West Coast Challenge (in Vancouver, UBC Campus)
AUGUST 6 VANCOUVER, BURNABY, VICTORIA, (& PORTLAND?)
August 14 @ Portland <Sunday>
August 27 @ Victoria
September 10 @ Grand Final (in Vancouver, UBC Campus)
September 18 @ Portland <Sunday>
October 1&2 @ US Nationals (in Milwaukee, Wisconsin)

The July 10th Portland game will be done as a set of metro games between Portland, Eastside and Seattle/UW.
We need volunteers to help arrange a home field for the July 10th and August 6th home games and a volunteer to help arrange travel to the Victoria game. Also, we will be providing a ride from the Victoria Clipper dock to the field for Victoria on our Aug 6 home game. They will return the favour to us if we need it. Please contact me (bill@dgsi.com) if you can help out with one of these tasks.

No Practice week of June 23

There will be no practice this Thursday, June 23. Some guys will be getting together at the Kangaroo & Kiwi, if you can make it, stop in for a beer or two and a pie.
Also, a reminder that season dues are $35, payable to S.A.R.F.C. by check. Give the checks to John Foley.

June 18th Tournament information

GAME DETAILS - First game is at 12:30pm
Full details are at Vancouvers website but our games are:
Game 1 vs Victoria at 12:30pm
Game 2 vs Burnaby at 2:30pm
Game 3 vs Vancouver at 4:30pm

CARPOOLS
I'll be sending an email to everyone on the player list that you can Reply All to for carpooling - if you are not on the player list below then let me know.

DIRECTIONS
We're playing at Burnaby at 12:30 so you probably need to leave here by 9am to give yourself enough time to warm up before our first game.
There are showers and changerooms at the ground so bring a towel, soap and a large cork with a no entry sign attached to it if you plan on showering with Donlen.
1. Take I-5 North
2. Exit at the Truck Border Crossing Exit 3. After crossing the border follow the road for about 30 minutes through Langley etc until you hit the Trans Canada Highway 4. Go West on Highway 1 for about 20 minutes 5. Take the Kensington Avenue exit Northbound 6. Take the first Right onto Sprott Street 7. The grounds are located at the rear of the complex

OVERNIGHT HOTELS
I will not be organising hotels for the Saturday night, so you're on your own this time. If you are travelling back on Saturday or Sunday you can tune into the radio station 1130AM to get border crossing wait times - the Peace Arch and Truck Crossings are only about 2 miles from each other.

Tentative Schedule for this Season

Gleaned from the websites of Vancouver and Victoria here is the tentative schedule so you can plan ahead:
June 18 @ Vancouver (Calgary, Seattle, Victoria & Vancouver) this one is for certain
July 22 & 23 @ Vancouver (Vancouver, Seattle & Denver?, Golden Gate? others?) ***note, this is a Friday and Saturday***
August 20 @ Victoria (Vancouver, Victoria & Seattle) tentative
September @ Vancouver NW Grand Final (Victoria lists this as the 10th but not listed on Vancouvers website) tentative
October 1 & 2 @ Milwaukee, Wisconsin USA Footy National Championships. This is for certain.
Again, emphasis on the "tentative" as Matt is still working on the schedule with other teams. As soon as it is finalized, we'll publish it here.
