Grand Final Results
A great effort was put in by the 17 players that made the journey north for the 2004 Grand Final against Vancouver on September 11th. Vancouver loaned the Grizzlies a newbie aussie player to make up a squad of 18.Of the 18 that strode onto the field, the entire forward line was nursing a banged up knee each with Shevlin having had an MRI on his the evening before - gutsy stuff for Shevlin, Jolley and Parker to even take the field. Even though Darren Hogben visited the bathroom as many times as Eddie McGuire is on tv in Australia each week, he still managed to take the field with a bout of food poisoning.
The Grizzlies started the game well with the first goal of the match.Through the efforts of a tireless backline, Seattle kept within reach of the Cougars throughout the game with just a 2 point deficit at three quarter time. With everyone playing the full 80 minutes due to no bench, Seattle ran out of legs in the final quarter as Vancouver held on for a 9 point victory at the final siren.
Vancouver 9.7-61 Seattle 8.4-52
Best Players:Greg Morton, Darren Barlow, Dave Lewellen, Matt Muller, Justyn Shevlin Goals:Shevlin 3, Parker 2, Muller 2, Jolley 1
Special Thanks for the coaches wife, Debra for making the trip even though the coach couldn't due to work commitments. Also thanks to Amanda Turner and Bruce Hoff for running the water and to Shallow and ex Coach Burridge for making the trip north to support the boys.
