Seattle Grizzlies
Australian Football Club

FOOTY NEWS - August 28th

TRAINING AND THE PUBNo training this week - we are struggling to find a ground for next week too.
We will be heading to the Kangaroo and Kiwi Pub tonight to watch the footy at 8pm - Lance Van Loon (ex Player) is in town and will be there if anyone wants to catch up with him.

BOSEYS FAREWELL - THIS SATURDAY NIGHT
Steve Bose is returning to Australia for good next week so we will be having a piss-up at the Kangaroo and Kiwi for him this Saturday night, August 30th starting at 7:30pm. I'll be bringing a footy along for everyone to sign for him.

CANADIAN INVITATIONAL
The Canadian Invitation in Vancouver on August 16th was a great success although the Grizzlies did not manage to win a game.
Results were:
GAME 1: Seattle 5.1.31 to Denver 9.10.64
GAME 2: Vancouver 6.1.37 - Denver 6.4.40
GAME 3: Vancouver 8.6.54 to Seattle 5.4.34

BUSHMANS PICNIC
The Seattle weather co-operated for the Bushmans picnic on Sunday and a great time was had by all while raising over $1000 for the club. The two highlights of the day would have to be Debra Donlen's lamingtons along with John Foley winning the pie eating and beer skulling competition with an amazing time of just 27 seconds to down both of them.

STORM GAME
We had a great turnout for the Seattle Storm game on Monday night, with 67 people supporting the Aussie girls.

GRAND FINAL IN VANCOUVER - only 2 weeks away - RSVP NOW!!!
Our next and final game of the season is the Grand Final to be played at Thuderbird Stadium on September 13th at 2pm - please send me an email so we can get an idea of numbers for the big game.

AFL GRAND FINAL NIGHT - Friday September 26th
Keep this night free for our annual Grand Final Party - we'll be returning to the Kangaroo and Kiwi Pub this year. We will be pre-selling tickets from the pub in the next week or so - stay tuned for details.

USAFL NATIONALS - Kansas City - October 10-12
I'll be sending out an email soon regarding costs for the Nationals trip to Kansas City - despite the efforts of Shevlin and crew the official hotel is the same as last years with a rate of $79/night which includes a cooked breakfast each morning. Keep this weekend free.
